Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved through upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment results in an increase in linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their stats.

Upgradable items can be found all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The main way to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are components that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others give an overall bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools, and provide various benefits, from increasing the speed of an Best item upgrade's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, simply select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats after the upgrade. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The upper-right side of the screen shows the number of upgrade components needed for the specific item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, however it can be reduced by many different ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them to other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded with the use of a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or rune, and many can be upgraded using an upgrade suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them even more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also increase the recall of messages by creating an emotional connection in the brain.

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it can improve a stat by, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by, not the amount that it will actually increase the stat by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and the quality of the item you are enchanting.

The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you wish to remove the glyph from an item upgrader kit, you will need to salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also place an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is useful for those who take lots of damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and can be found in various ways such as in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button" you can recycle the recycled items. This will alter the appearance of the window for the item and let up to six items be selected to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined based on the item's rarity and also its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it is lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item upgrader, but players should be aware that it will reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls required in order to increase it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective for Diadems and rings that don't have alternatives to raise their ilvls.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it with money or food items that allows players to modify their builds without a lot of time and energy. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They plan to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are many ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading any stat. The second is to increase the upgrade effect, which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will retain its iLevel, but will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

When upgrading your items, it is important to remember that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases, a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are occasions when a more or unique roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item, so if you upgrade a unique or rare item upgrader mod to a unique type, it has a chance to get a higher iLevel.

Upgrades can be expensive, especially if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the number of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item could get to the top of its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level though. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.

Based on the item's base level and upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For example the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an exceptional item is likely to get the Enhanced Defense of the new base item type.
